QUESTION:- infant has baby acne on his cheeks and chinMy 5 week old infant has baby acne on his cheeks and chin. Should I just leave it alone or can I use your cream? My doctor says putting creams/oils on it will only make it worse. Also, he has yellow, crusts on his forehead and eyebrows which I assume is cradle cap. He does not have it yet on his head though. Can I apply the balm on those areas? How do you suggest I get rid of it?ANSWER: 17.12.07Hi,Your doctor is correct, however our lavender balm applied once a day after you have bathed and dried the baby will solve any dry skin problems. Too much oil clogs the sweat glands and using our face balms can do that if applied too thickly too often in hot weather. With baby acne use the balm sparingly twice a day maximum so the skin can "breathe" As part of the balm is soluble in water it will not clog the pores if used once or twice a day very thinly. The yellow crusts are a bit more of a problem. If you can email me a good close digital picture I can tell for sure, the pic can be several megabytes, you just take it and email it to me. if the crusts are thick and honey colored it may be impetigo infection which is easily fixed with a prescription antibiotic cream such as bactroban or and antibiotic syrup. It sounds like this is a likely possibility. I have recently purchased your Lavender balm ( have been using for six days) and have been applying this to his face around three times daily. While his skin feels very soft , it does not appear to be improving. Any suggestions?? -----Original Message----- From: David Hosking Sent: Thursday, 15 February 2007 10:55 Subject: Re: baby acne Hi , Baby acne is due to sweat pores becoming blocked, the lavender balm applied just at night would be better but avoid bath oils. Just use plain water in the bath and johnsons no-more tears as a baby shampoo and give a mild gentle rub with a washcloth like a facewasher. That is has some texture to it to massage the skin gently to help keep the pores open. That should help. She has had the acne since about 3 weeks old and is now 6 weeks old. The doctor prescribed her cortisone and she has now been on it for 2 weeks. The acne has improved however, I'm looking for a natural product that is safer for her. I'm assuming the Soothing lavender facial balm for infants is what I would order. Is this something that people have used on baby acne? Is this product sold in Canada or is it only availble to be ordered from your website? I live in Toronto, Canada. Thank you for your time and help! A V-----Original Message----- From: David Hosking [] Sent: Tuesday, 21 February 2006 8:23 To: A V Subject: Re: baby acne & cradle cap. Hi A, Yes the lavender balm is ideal for baby acne. Simply apply it 3-4 times a daily to leave a slight sheen on the affected areas. It does not sting and will not hurt her if she accidentally rubs it into her eyes. (Some of our adult clients use it for eyelid eczema.) For craddle cap, simple massage gently into the affected areas, it will look a little greasy , then at bath time use your favourite baby shampoo and rub into the greasy cradle cap affected areas then using you finger tips massage the area as firmly as possible without causing baby discomfort. The idea is to loosen the scales but not pull them off. Wash the lot out with water and dry the hair. You then use a fine comb to remove the loose flakes. Repeat this several times and the problem will clear up quite quickly. We currently do not have an agent in Canada although several naturopaths and chiropractors have purchased a dozen or so from time to time for their own clients. When you purchase through our website we guarantee the product to work or we refund the price and the postage. It is a great product as you would expect me to say :>)
Kind Regards,
