When people ask me are my products Natural or Organic what I find they really mean is "Are your products Safe?.
"Organic" is a totally abused term in advertising.
Organic in science means anything containing carbon so it can be used to
describe anything from meat to pesticide.
Many so called "organic" products contain nothing but chemicals made in
laboratories. Yet they can be called organic quite truthfully.
"Natural" is used in advertising to convey a safe feeling. Yet Mother Nature can be very harmful , Opium is natural, the deadly poison strychnine is natural and many toadstools and garden plants (foxgloves) are natural but deadly. Peanut butter is natural but can cause deadly allergies in children. (NO peanut oil is used in our products for this reason.)
Synthetic products can be made better than the natural equivalents. Synthetic cleansers are much less irritant than natural soaps made from vegetable or animals fats.
My philosophy is to combine the safest ingredients from the natural world, the organic world , both synthetic and natural. The whole intent is to produce the safest product that is highly effective.
We combine the safest natural organic ingredients of highest purity with the most effective synthetic products which produce better results than anything in the natural world.
Our Hypoallergenic Balm is a good example. It contains a totally safe synthetic antiseptic called chlorhexidine which is used in mouthwashes and even put on babies umbilical cord when they are born. It also contains very highly purified wool fat (which is the highest grade of lanolin available) The Zinc Oxide in it could be called "Natural" as it does occur as a mineral in nature, but the ultrafine and ultrapure form we use is made in a laboratory to ensure extreme purity and sterility.
I have often spoken to naturopaths about this and the best philosophy most feel is take the best that the natural and synthetic world offer and avoid the unsafe things.
Cortisone for example, is actually a powerful "natural" hormone. We DON'T use cortisone in any of our products as it can upset your bodies natural hormone balance.
Our Nappy Rash Cream is so successful we have registered it with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (Australia's version of the FDA) see this entry : http://www.tga.gov.au/ then check our AustR 54249 registration there
Our other products are compounded and as such do not require registration but must comply with strict quality standards very similar to the USA. In fact some of the ingredients in our products come from the USA !
All our raw materials are Pharmaceutical grade, free of Genetic Modification
and pesticide free.
There are no phthalates in any of our products.
ALL our products are 100% gluten free (wheat-free) and none of the ingredients are derived from wheat.
This is a big problem for many people, especially those suffering (coeliac disease) or celiac disease (different spellings in different countries) Celiac is USA, Coeliac is England/Australia. (Which is a debilitating condition due to allergy to wheat proteins especially gluten)
All wheat and triticale (another cereal seed) and gluten containing products must be avoided as they cause persistent diarrhorea and damage to the intestinal lining that makes the problem progressively worse. (Rice products are fine) By totally avoiding gluten and wheat based products (malt in confectionary, "Mars Bars" and even beer !!!) the body can return to a normal state.
Our diaper rash/nappy rash cream is ideal for the sore bottom that results from gluten caused diarrhorea in people with celiac disease (coeliac disease). Adults can apply it thickly with a panty liner with "wings" inside their underwear so the cream does not get on their clothes. This works for men too. It sounds a bit odd, but the men put the panty liner in the area of their underpants that is near the anus. Panty liners are self adhesive and just stick inside the underpants. Men are unfamiliar with doing this but if they have Celiac disease (coeliac disease), then this can help with painful diarrhorea. The problem never goes away and affects a significant number of the population as you will notice gluten-free food sections in the super-markets these days too.
As always, I am quite happy to help people with this problem.QUESTION:
ANSWER:
All our products are made from ingredients which are gluten free and have no wheat or gluten derived ingredients in them.
Coeliac disease can cause a lot of bowel problems and our Nappy Rash Cream gives wonderful relief from
soreness in this situation.
If her problem is well controlled our face and body balm is good for very dry skin and eczema while
our moisturizer cream is excellent as a moisturizer and make-up remover.
QUESTION:
ANSWER:
The very small amount of boric acid in the cream is quite safe. Many eye drops contain very
small amount of boric acid to stabilize them. Large amounts of of boric acid were used as
baby powders many years ago causing problems. Hence the amount of bad information.
These products typically contained 30% boric acid. Much,Much more than in our cream.
In fact Boron in boric acid is essential to healthy growth of plants and only harmful to
animals in far larger amounts than are contained in a full jar of psorexederm.
The amount in the psorexederm is miniscule in comparison to cortisone creams which commonly contain 1000mg of cortisone in a 100g container of cream
However if you still would like to post us back the cream we would be happy to replace it with the lavender balm on receipt.
QUESTION:
ANSWER:
We have a hypoallergenic face and body balm which is ideal for
dribble rash and can be used on the eyelids.
We often get asked about the use of some synthetic substances in our products. Our philosophy is to use the best and safest products from both the natural and the synthetic world. Pure Paraffin of the United States Pharmacopoeia grade is what we use in our products. It is totally inert, allergy free and totally non toxic. (It is even used straight as an eye ointment in some other commercial products.)
A bad petrochemical product example is the petrol you put in your car, it contains proven carcinogens, benzene in particular! So people easily think all petrochemical products should be avoided. Natural substances can be very toxic too. Think of the opium poppy and toxic plants in your garden like daffodils and oleanders. Do an internet search on poisonous garden plants as this will surprise you!
QUESTION:
ANSWER:
Our standard Psorexedern cream contains a small amount of vitamin A which should be avoided in pregnancy.
The original Psorexederm doesn't have enough vitamin A in it to be a concern in pregnancy as
it is applied to the skin so negligible amounts of vitamin A are absorbed.
However as I get this question fairly regularly I have today made a new product called Psorexederm PREVIT cream. It has NO Vitamin A at all but has been reformulated with Vitamin E in a smoother cream base for eczema, contact dermatitis, chafing and massaging into the skin. Vitamin E is often helpful for stretch marks too.
Psorexederm PREVIT retains the anti-itch coal tar and is very soothing and easy to massage in.
It is about $2 dearer and will have hand typed labels at first as we get it up and running.
I think it will be useful for pregnant mums as it is safe to use in any area of the body except
around the eyes.
(it may irritate slightly if it got into the eye.
The Hypoallergenic Face and Body Balm is ldeal for this area and soothes straight away.)

Here is a link from the very highly respected journal "The Merck Index", which is a physicians bible, and shows that a small amount of propylene glycol is often used with good benefit in skin products. www.merck.com/mmpe/print/sec10/ch110/ch110a.html
Wikipedia offers a very balanced view with references to all the products including food it is permitted to be used in. As with many things a little can be good but a lot can be harmful. It is important to remember that the toxicology of handling pure chemicals in bulk in a workplace environment is completly different to using low levels as ingredients within a product. As with so many information sources on the internet the references can be contradictory when used outside of their normal context.
We have used this formula for many years and can certainly verify it's safety.QUESTION:
ANSWER:
As the products are hand made we do not have testers but since there is a full unconditional money back guarantee
there is no risk to you.
Shelf life is about 2 years and they have a money back guarantee of effectiveness.
It is a fact that 3% of people are allergic to "lanolin" which is a natural skin protectant extracted from sheep's wool. 97% of people have no problem with it. Note: Our Tinea cream does not contain lanolin
The lanolin you buy in the shops typically is fragranced and contains water and preservatives and is MORE allergenic than the "lanolin" we use. The general Medical thinking at the moment is to eliminate anything that has been reported to irritate the skin to hopefully clear up the eczema in case it is due to an external irritant. Thus the paraffin's are used with quite a degree of success but not in all cases and lanolin is considered a possible irritant,However Highly purified grades of lanolin have very low allergenic potential. We use United States Pharmacopeia Grade of Anhydrous Wool Fat (just means best US pharmaceutical grade purified lanolin without any water content)
We get very few problems with it and if you are not allergic to it, you will benefit from the properties lanolin has that paraffin's alone do have. We combine the paraffin's, a safe antiseptic Chlorhexidine used in mouth washes and lanolin because paraffin is totally water repellent. Lanolin is protective and although oily in texture it actually absorbs and holds water in the skin. For the 97% of people who have no problems with lanolin the benefits are superior to straight paraffin's.
The best trial is to use our product on one part of the eczema and use a paraffin product on another part of the eczema applied at least 3-4 times daily for 1 week. You can then tell which product is best. If you see a sensitivity to lanolin simply stop the product, However we find lanolin helps many people. If your nipples are painful, cracked and bleeding you probably are breast feeding and almost at your wit's end. The most common cause of cracked or bleeding nipples is breast feeding. However some women in dry climates also experience this problem. The best product to relieve this condition is PURE medical grade lanolin (often called wool fat).
This is an ULTRA purified product and does not contain water,
perfumes or additives that are in commercial lanolin.
NOTE: We also have an Extra Strength Psorexederm Ointment which is not on our Order form, it is the same price as the Psorexederm Cream but it has even better anti-itch properties. The product is a thick yellow ointment which relieves itchiness almost immediately. It is transparent and protective once applied.
However it can only be ordered for particularly severe cases after you have discussed this with David.
Ideal for psoriasis, eczema and itch of dermatitis suffered by pregnant women, but wishing to avoid any products that contain Vitamin A during pregnancy. It is also softer allowing massage into areas where stretch marks may form
Ideal forPREVIT CREAM does NOT contain Vitamin A which has been known in large doses to cause abnormal fetal development. Contains Zinc oxide, Pure lanolin , LOC, Pure Olive oil and 100g.u. per gram of Vitamin E.
PRODUCT INGREDIENTS:The combination of ingredients include a HIGH level of salicylic acid (5 times more than commercial shampoos), that is especially good at removing scale. Salicylic acid is a NATURAL product from Willow Bark
The combination of ingredients make it especially good at removing scale from hair WITHOUT changing scalp pigmentation (Scalp COLOR) so is ideal for all skin pigmentation levels and degrees of hair curliness.
NOTE: David's Psorexederm Scalp lotion is to strong for children. If ordering for a Child ask for "Children's Strength Scalp Lotion" in our 'Special Comments' field. David will then make up a special lower strength formulation for your child.
