Solutions for anal itching and itch in the rectal area

QUESTION - How do I treat anal itching and anal irritation without cortisone?

I'm interested in ordering the cream for anal itching. Have had itching in the anal area for many many years but initially found relief with cortisone cream. Over the past 2 years the condition has worsened and has become unbearable. I now realize that the regular daily use of cortisone cream for many years has probably caused an irreversible thinning of the skin and a higher sensitivity to itching.

I do not use the cortisone cream anymore since it is not that effective. It is unclear whether the original condition is due to psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, or something else.

Will your cream help? And if so, how long would 100g last?

And do you know of any solutions that can rebuild the skin layers of the rectum?

ANSWER - How to treat anal itching and anal irritation without cortisone

As you have found cortisone suppresses the symptoms but has long term drawbacks.

I would be interested to know exactly which product you were using and roughly how long you used it for as it may be possible to reverse the situation. If it was hydrocortisone then there would be a good chance to reverse the problem as hydrocortisone rarely causes permanent damage.

You will pardon me for mentioning a common cause and that is having worms. These are a common cause of itching and since the worms are called threadworms, they are very fine and may not be noticed. If you are unsure you simply get a pack of worm medication (cheap at the local pharmacy, I like combantrin brand, others are ok too.) which is a single dose treatment and the symptoms would disappear within 2 weeks.

My Psorexederm cream works very well for anal irritation problem and can be used anywhere in the anal, rectal and genital region with safety and comfort. A 100g jar should last about 3 weeks with twice a day use and would definitely be giving good results within the first week I would expect.

Our Psorexederm cream relieves itch and discomfort immediately on application.

It is a white coloured cream which is very soothing, protective and healing. Over time it will improve the skin and there is a chance it will return the skin to normal.

Depending on the severity of the itch, if it is bad you would apply a thick coating to the anal area (about a teaspoonful of cream around the anus).

To avoid it staining you clothes you stick a women's panty liner pad in the rear of your underwear where your undies would contact the cream. This is quite comfortable and cannot be seen thru clothing. You can buy any brand of these in the supermarket, they all work the same. They are a thin soft absorbent pad with a peel off strip covering an adhesive patch that holds them in place in your undies.

Sounds complicated but it is really easy. You probably won't need this at bedtime, just apply the cream and wear a pair of old underwear over the top.

This will also help heal the skin in the area. If you have hemorrhoids there is a medication that can help with that very effectively so let me know if this is a problem and I'll advise you further with that. Keep me informed with how you go with the problem.

QUESTION - Solutions for anal itching and anal irritation

Hi David,

Thank you for your response. I used hydro-cortisone cream and most of the time it was 1% maximum strength. Length of time could very well be a couple of decades. Condition was on and off so If I had to estimate I would say it was used 50 % of the days in that two decade time frame, maybe more.

Are there any particular methods that help reverse the damage or is it primarily non-use that allows for natural recovery?

I am aware of the worms as a possibility but most of what I heard is that they cause the itching to worsen at night, which is not the case with me. Also a while back when I introduced a strong pro-biotic product (Syntol) the itching did improve. To me that confirmed that this was yeast related. However since that time, it seems to have come back against the syntol and I haven't increased my dosage since it can be quite expensive. I am pretty sure that I've been battling back and forth with a yeast imbalance over the years so I thought this was the main culprit.

I can revisit the worm possibility. I heard about the tape test with magnifying glass to examine for pin worms. I can look into taking combantrin as well.

It appears that psorexederm addresses multiple causes of the itching. From what I can tell it contains anti-fungal properties. If you could, please just confirm for me that psorexederm does address itching caused by yeast.

ANSWER - Solutions for anal itching and anal irritation

hi,
Since Combantrin is cheap and practically 100% effective with one dose I would just take a dose of it to be sure rather than muck around with the tape. Hydrocortisone is not too bad long term so I would expect fairly rapid improvement of the condition and almost immediate relief of the itching.

Assuming your bowel motions are normal, one a day and not loose or watery (this can be irritating to the affected area) you should get rapid relief of the problem.

The Psorexederm cream has anti-fungal properties so will help externally including yeast problems.

Since probiotics multiply in the digestive system if the diet is adequate I would suggest perhaps a reasonably priced probiotic with diet adjustment to maximise the benefits. If you are in Australia there is a new cereal out based on research by the Australian Govt scientific body the CSIRO. It is a "prebiotic" That means it contains high levels of nutrients that probiotic bacteria need to survive and thrive. A probiotic should be able to return the system to normal and not be needed until infection or antibiotics throws things off balance again.

It is marketed in Australian supermarkets Woolworths/Safeway under the name "Goodness Supafoods Digestive 1st" in the cereal section of the supermarket. It is a well balanced food and has beneficial complex carbohydrates that probiotics need to thrive in your digestive system. No doubt if you are outside Australia there are suitable local products which would contain a high level of rolled barley or rolled oats. These have a low glycemic index which means there is not a lot of sugars present which can aggravate yeast problems. It also gives good steady release of energy which is good for everyone and especially important for diabetics.

As for reversing skin damage, the Psorexederm is very effective. I even use it for the elderly who have very delicate skin on the legs and hands. It improves the skin thickness and resistance to damage. I really can't say how long it would take in your case, however you will notice a dramatic improvement with even a 100g jar. It is safe to use long term but generally the sort of problem you have responds rapidly.

In the case of people who have had bowel surgery and /or have loose motions this can cause the problem. You haven't mentioned that so I would expect good results.
