QUESTION: really bad itchy scaly skin on arms and feet (eczema)
Hello Dr Hoskin
Firstly i should tell u a little about me. I am 23yrs old so defenately
outof my childhood and only diagnosed with eczema 1-2hrs ago.
I have a really bad itchy scaly skin on both my arms. I try and use
Moisturizer all the time but only helps for a couple of hrs before it
becomes dry and itchy again and starts to scale. When i wake up in the
morning my bed is generally covered with skin peelings.
I also have terrible itching on by foot as well.
What product of yours should i try and how long should i keep using it.
I have been recomended your details by elder brother who used it on their
son but wasnt sure what product it was.
ANSWER:
The product you should try is our
Psorexederm cream at night with moisturizer several times during the day.
The Psorexederm Cream relieves itch almost immediately and is applied before bed and as needed.
If the skin itches, reapply it for relief.
To apply it first have a soft cloth such as an old towel handy to wipe off any excess as it is white in color.
Take some Psorexederm some and smooth it over the affected areas. It melts on skin contact and can be smoothed
over a large area. When an area is covered any excess left on the skin is wiped off with the soft cloth to avoid
it getting on your clothes or bed sheets.
This sounds time consuming but is very simple when you actually do it.
For your feet, apply the Psorexederm but don't rub it off, put on a pair of old socks to cover it
and leave on overnight for best results then wash off in the morning.
If there is itching between your toes and white spots or edges of skin on your feet there may be
some tinea involved but since the Psorexederm has anti-fungal boric acid in it that should solve that problem too.
If between the toes apply more thickly there to protect and heal the skin
You can apply the
Psorexederm as often as you like with complete safety. Due to the method of application
it is best to use at home and use a moisturizer like Sorbolene with 10% glycerin during the day since it
is colorless and just rubs in.
If after a week your skin still seems to be drying out during the day then you may need our
Hypoallergenic Face and Body balm
for day time use as it holds moisture in the skin better than sorbolene cream.
Avoid using soap. Two skin and body washes available at any pharmacy are NS Wash and Cetaphil.
I like the NS Wash as it is a little more moisturizing than the Cetaphil but both are good.
Please email me if you have any further questions, however I think this should have the problem under control quickly.
Avoid exposure to chemicals and allergens. Since the problem is on your arms it suggests perhaps your arms
are exposed to something like an irritant plant if you garden, an irritant cleanser or product in the
workplace or something unknown. Even sunscreens have been know to occasionally cause allergies.
If the itching problem hasn't improved much after 1 week , Try taking a non-drowsy antihistamine once a day.
I would suggest Telfast 180mg as this seems the best for skin allergies. If it is a skin allergy this
should give overnight improvement. It is doubtful it is an allergy since skin flaking is not usual however.
Hope this helps you,
Kind Regards,
David Hosking
