Hello David

My son (in Perth) recommended your products to me, he has rosacea and is using your rosacea cream with excellent results. So I wondered if one of your products would help my daughter (age 21) with her itchy skin problem. She gets extremely itchy skin after showering, (she does not use any soap products in the shower), and we have tried numerous creams and lotions to stop the itching, even anti-histamine tablets, and nothing seems to help. In fact some well known lotions especially for dry itchy skin stings her so badly she has to hop back in the shower to get it off again, only to itch again when she gets out! The itching can last up to 2 – 3 hours and is mainly on her legs and arms and gets so uncomfortable that she has been brought to tears. There is no rash or redness at all apart from her feet where she does get dermatitis and has purplish colouring on top of her feet and some scarring from where she used to scratch when she was younger. She eats a good diet and drinks plenty of water.

I don't know if its dry skin and there's no flaky patches. I'm starting to wonder if it’s the water here, we live in Western Queensland and the bore water is from the Artesian Basin and has lots of minerals in it or maybe she's lacking in some vitamin or other although blood tests have shown normal. The doctors are at a loss of what to do other than send her to a skin specialist in the city (over 500ks away) to do skin tests.

I think something must run in our family as my son has rosacea, another son and daughter have asthma and I have a skin allergy urticaria.

I have looked through your product information and am just unsure of what to try first, they all sound so good. Could you suggest which cream would be best to try?

Have a nice day

Hi ,
Urticaria is just a fancy name for itch and strangly enough, water can be enough to set it off.

Try using NS wash applied to the skin first then washed off during showering, this product has no Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in it which may help. If that doesn't work , and you haven't yet tried it, apply sorbolene and glycerine cream to the dry skin then step into the shower and wash it off. Avoid water which is too hot or too cold as this triggers histamine release in the skin causing itching.

Try that first after 1 week take a claratyne tablet daily half an hour or more before bathing or if bathing first thing in the morning , take it the previous night.

If the itching is still a problem try our Psorexederm cream which is coal tar based and an excellent anti-itch product. As it is zinc based it goes on white then after gently smoothing it on the skin (avoid rubbing as urticaria is sensitive to this) the cream will appear like sunscreen on the skin. Use a soft cloth to bolt (not rub) the excess off until all that is left is a light shine. Do this morning and night and you should get good results. I suspect the Psorexederm cream combined with an antihistamine will be needed for best results. Change one thing at a time so you know what is working.

Kind Regards,
David Hosking
