Advice from David about associated Hair Loss

QUESTIONS: (Questions left on our 'Feedback' page)

- Does Seborrheic Dermatitis or Scalp Psoriasis cause your hair to fall out?

- Will David's scalp lotion help heal the scalp and will the hair grow back?

- Will I see a difference in 14 days with the hair growing back?

- Have you had any experience with treating Folliculitis Decalvans?

- Losing quite a lot of hair with the flakes when they come out

- Treating Pityriasis Amiantacea (also known as "Tinea amiantacea")

Hair loss due to psoriasis or seborrhoeic dermatitis often recovers once the condition causing the hair loss is controlled.

Check the following link :
http://dermnetnz.org/hair-nails-sweat/hair-loss.html
We have had good results with conditions like the ones pictured in the section "Scalp Conditions" on that web site.

Our product will markedly improve the condition within 14 days then once the condition has been controlled you should notice hair regrowth.

It is hard to say exactly when you will notice hair regrowth but once the condition has been controlled I would estimate a noticeable improvement within another 30 days.

I have several hairdressers who refer clients to me with good outcomes in such situations.

As always, the product is covered by our unconditional money back guarantee and is worth trying..

Hello David, Have you had any experience with treating Folliculitis Declavans? All suggestions welcome,

Subject: Re: Folliculitis Declavans
Hi

Basically I have not encountered it but my literature search may help you somewhat I hope: As you know this problem is a scarring problem associated with substantial hair loss and baldness. It is known to be linked to Staph infection which causes pustules ,scarring and hair loss. Several different prescription treatments have been tried with some success. As antibiotic resistance can be a problem one recent combination has been successful which is a new treatment regimen consisting of rifampicin (300 mg) and Clindamycin (300 mg) twice daily for 10 weeks

Certainly there is no over the counter medication available.

Dermatologists generally try to eliminate the staph infection with antibiotics like Clindamycin and occasionally rifampicin. Occasionally they use steroids to suppress the immune reaction which is caused by the staph and triggers hair loss. Tretinoin which is a vitamin A derivative which stimulates skin growth and reduces scarring has also been helpful. As you are in Australia, you would be well advised to seek treatment through a public hospital with a good dermatology department. This would save you a lot on costs of the medications which can be pricey outside the hospital system. In Melbourne you could try the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

There are some very good dermatologists in the hospitals and access is possibly easier than private dermatologists. Kind Regards David Hosking

Comments: Hi. My teenage daughter has very dry white scaly patches on her scalp and I think it might be scalp psirosis. We are waiting to hear from the dermatologist. She appears to be losing quite a lot of hair with the flakes when they come out.

Is your product available in the UK and will it help the hair grow back?

Hi, The problem is likely to be one of 3 common conditions, scalp psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis or possibly a fungal infection.

Normally the scalp loses about 100 hairs a day. However with all of these conditions scale builds up on the scalp and hair is trapped in the scale. The hair that is falling out due to the skin problem plus the hair that normally falls out and grow back gets caught in the scale making the hair loss look quite severe.

Once the condition is under control the hair will grow back. When the dermatologist determines the type of condition she has you will be able to effectively treat it. If it is fungal then an anti-fungal shampoo such as Nizoral will clear it up. In the case of Psoriasis or Seborrhoeic dermatitis our Psorexederm Scalp lotion is very effective. We do not have an agent in the UK at this time but orders can be placed on our website at http://www.hoskingspharmacy.com

QUESTIONS about Folliculitis

I worked for a year in the enquiries section some of which was on phones wearing headphones. The metal band either caused, or irritated something existing. I have been told the condition is Folliculitis. Nobody seams to be able to treat it and it has been there on the crown of my scalp for seventeen years. I have tried numerous lotions and potions Doctors and skin specialists, and nothing works.

I do use an antibacterial skin wash called Physohex which keeps it under control and stops it spreading. It won't cure it. It seems nothing will. Perhaps you have an answer I don't know. Your product talks about psoriasis and such but not what I have. Is it worth trying it, or do you have another product that perhaps will rid me of a seventeen year irritation?

ANSWERS(S) about Folliculitis

Foliculitis is inflammation of the follicles as you no doubt are aware. Although I have not used our Psorexederm scalp lotion for that condition, I believe it should be effective. As the product contains anti-inflammatory coal tar and keratolytic salicylic acid to open follicles and also remove any scale I believe it should work. I would expect to see dramatic improvement within 14 days if it was going to help you although due to the long standing nature of the problem you may need to continue using it longer which is safe to do.

The product comes with a dropper so you just apply enough drops directly to the affected area to moisten it at night. In the morning you then shampoo it out as you normally shampoo your hair. As the treatment is intensive you would need to do this daily for 14 days then as needed. You should get steady improvement over this time. It would not be necessary to use the Phisohex as the product has an antibacterial effect. In the event it didn't help do let us know as we guarantee the product and I do think it should help. Let me know how you go.

QUESTIONS about losing a lot of hair

Hi Mr Hoskings, I have just ordered the scalp treatment I have tried everything, I have been to dermatoligist receiving diprosone cream and ointment as I have on my body as well also I am beside myself as I am losing hair a lot...... everytime I brush or wash it. Why would I be losing my hair?
Will let you know if product helps. Thank you

ANSWERS(S) about losing a lot of hair

Our Scalp treatment works well in most cases of psoriasis and sebhorrheic dermatitis. The secret is to use it every night and shampoo it out in the morning for about 14 days as an intensive treatment. You can use it for a longer period if needed.

The hair loss is quite a common complaint with this scalp condition and is due to the hairs becoming stuck in scale on the scalp. The scalp normally loses up to 100 hairs a day. The scale from scalp problems holds the hairs as clumps which are noticeable when you wash and brush your hair.

This makes the normal hair loss look much more noticeable. After about 14 days treatment this should have cleared up.

People often are concerned about washing their hair every day when they see hair loss. Daily washing cleanses the scalp along with the scale removing effect of the scalp lotion and will soon restore normal scalp conditions. After the scalp has returned to normal you should still wash your hair at least 3-4 times a week with a coal tar based shampoo to prevent the problem recurring. I look forward to hearing how you get on with the treatment.

Pityriasis amiantacea (also known as "Tinea Amiantacea")

Our scalp lotion is ideal for treating Pityriasis Amiantacea.

First check with your doctor that there is no fungal or bacterial infection. If there is infection this should be treated for maximum benefit from the Psorexederm scalp lotion. The ingredients salicylic acid remove the scale from the hair and the coal tar stops scale recurring. It is beneficial to use a good brand of coal tar shampoo with the lotion and continue using it after the problem has cleared,

Commonly there is no infection and so you can use it immediately. Due to the heavy nature of the crusting in most cases the 200ml size is ideal. The 100ml may not be enough to finish the treatment although it will certainly produce improvement.

I suffer from Pityriasis Amiantacea

Subject: Psorias Scalp Treatmeant Lotion 100mL Bottle
Mr. D. Hoskings,

I placed an order for the above noted lotion. I suffer from Pityriasis Amiantacea. A dermatolgist about twenty years ago diagnosed this and provided a treatment that cleared up the scaling which has not returned since. The symptoms that recurr are constant unending itching of the scalp (crown only) and hair thinning which only occurred when the Pityriasis Amiantacea started - male pattern baldness does not run in my family (I am an Hispanic Latino born in the USA).

My I please ask that your share your feedback with me on my selection and benefits you belive this choice will serve me given its very high success rate? Respectfully submitted

Hi,

The scalp lotion is ideal for the job although if you have very heavy scaling you may need a larger container to fully complete the treatment.. I would expect quite an improvement to be noted with daily use even with the 100ml size. The itching should be one of the first symptoms to improve as the coal tar content is excellent at reducing itch. Once the condition is well under control the hair-loss is usually reversible.

The coal tar in the lotion reduces the inflammation and scale formation while the salicylic acid breaks up the scale so it can be washed out. Both these ingredients also help reduce the numbers of various bacteria and fungi on the scalp that can accompany the condition.

Daily use and hairwashing is important. You will find dead hairs in flakes of scale that come off. These hairs are the normal dead hairs that fall off the scalp but have become stuck in the scale so don't worry if as the scale comes off a few hairs may be stuck in the scale this is normal and will cease once the scale is removed. It is not increased hair loss.

You would treat the hair daily until the problem had cleared up. It is important to wash your hair daily at all times to maintain effective scale control. If you wash you hair less than 4 times a week you may find the problem returns more rapidly.

Some people are concerned that washing the hair daily may cause hair loss. It actually makes the scalp healthier. Any good normal shampoo can be used in between treatments with the scalp lotion. The lotion is safe for repeated long term use if the problem recurs. At the first sign of a recurrence immediately start the scalp lotion and that will stop the situation getting worse. Let me know the results you get.
