Leukemia cancer treatment and skin care for dry, abrasive and thinned skin

Dear Mr. Hosking:
A friend who used one of your creams recommended I contact you. This request is for my relative who was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia about four months ago. It came out of the blue and was discovered when she went for her annual physical. After a bone marrow test which confirmed the doctor’s diagnosis, she was put on Gleevec, which she has been taking since February.

Unfortunately, the medication is causing her painful and uncomfortable side effects, such as dry, abrasive and thinned skin; cracking and bleeding at body creases, i.e., knuckles, neck, eyelids, ankles; all over body skin rashes akin to sunburns; itching and scaling; extreme swelling and facial wrinkle accentuation; not to mention nausea and other stomach discomfort.

Are you able to create or recommend a skin cream that will at least relieve her skin discomfort, the drying, scaling, itching, and cracking. I may be asking too much, but you have come highly recommended.

I have not said anything to my relative except ask her to list her side effects to the medication. I did not want to get her hopes up in case you have no answer for me. I have seen the effects of the medication on her skin. It makes me want to cry.

Hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Hi,
We do have a product that will give some relief.
Cancer treatment kills cancer cells but also damages other cells such as the skin, the lips, lining of the nose and mouth and other sensitive areas..

The product I would recommend is our hypo-allergenic face and body balm. It is totally non-toxic so can be applied anywhere including lips, nostrils, eye lids and everywhere else. It will not sting even damaged skin. It creates a very effective barrier to keep moisture in the skin while having an oily texture so will not dry out. It softens the skin relieving the roughness and abrasiveness while restoring some water resistance to areas like the hands which can become very sensitive.

Application is simple due to it's non-toxic nature. Just apply it thickly at bedtime to penetrate during the night and apply as often as needed during the daytime. Different body areas will need more applications than others especially the knuckles and creases.

If the lips are affected the product can be applied to the lips and even "around the corners" into the mouth. If her nostrils are affected a cotton bud can be used to apply it into the nose. Basically, where there is a problem, you can apply it.

Itching may need an additional product in which case a prescribed cortisone cream or over the counter hydrocortisone can be used. This will not do much to improve the skin but will relieve the discomfort of itch quite well. Combining this with our hypo allergenic balm will probably be needed to get the best control of itching.

Our hypoallergenic balm is not curative as this problem is due to the treatment but the skin will clear up when the treatment finishes. The hypo balm will make life a lot more bearable and solve the discomfort and skin cracking to a great degree. (We have an unconditional guarantee if she does not have success but I feel she will benefit greatly.) Do let me know how she gets on.

Kind Regards,
David Hosking. 2010

Introducing David's Hypoallergenic Face and Body Balm

We formulated the lavender -free balm (removed the lavender oil) for infants, babys and adults with hypersensitivities. The hypoallergenic balm should work precisely the same as our Lavender Balm product, although, of course, it does not come with the lovely smell and color of the Lavender oil.

The hypo allergenic product without lavender oil conforms to the guidelines of Sue Dengate ( see; http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/) who is prominent in helping children with food additive sensitivities. These children also tend to have eczema and so the Hypoallergenic product without lavender was born after requests from a number of customers. Directions for use are exactly the same as for David's Soothing Lavender Face & Body Balm.
