Q&A - Hypoallergenic Balm can be used with Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency

Hi P,

We have had excellent results in babies with G6PD enzyme deficiency with our Hypoallergenic Face and Body Balm. It is completely non-toxic and should be applied as frequently as possible. Say 4-6 times a day. Apply enough to leave a noticeable protective shine on the damaged skin. This prevents water loss and drying of the skin while allowing natural healing to take place.

It does not sting when applied and should be applied before a feed, after a feed , extra thickly at bedtime and anytime during the day when the shine disappears. If he has a dummy then apply it to the plastic shield of the dummy to protect his skin underneath if this is irritated. Under the chin in the skin folds is often a problem area. When he is lying on his back apply extra thickly before bed to protect this sensitive area.

If you are currently using cortisone don't suddenly stop it as 2-3 days after his skin will flare up as you have observed. Applying the cortisone first as directed by the doctor (usually 2-3 times a day) then put the balm over the top. Reapply the balm at least 4-6 times a day as above. After a few days when the rash is controlled reduce the cortisone to half the amount. e.g If using twice a day drop down to once a day but still apply the balm just as frequently. After another 4 days apply the cortisone every second day and continue the balm in the same way. Then after another 4 days stop the cortisone and continue the balm.

Once the skin has healed use the balm as often as required to maintain the skin in good condition. I think you will be very pleased with this approach and the results.

Kind Regards,
David Hosking.

Subject: Need Your Advice
Hi David,

I came across your website in my search for a cure to my 7th month old son's facial rash problem. He developed these rashes around his chin about 6 weeks ago, when he started teething and drooling, it does not seem to itch. His paediatrician prescribed him Hydrocortisone cream , but it can not cure the rash, whenever I stop applying the cream the rashes reappear.

My son has G6PD deficiency so I need to be very careful. I would like to try out your product after reading the many good testimonials but I am not sure if it is safe for my son.

Please advice.

Introducing David's Hypoallergenic Face and Body Balm

We formulated the lavender -free balm (removed the lavender oil) for infants, babys and children with hypersensitivities. The hypoallergenic balm should work precisely the same as our Lavender Balm product, although, of course, it does not come with the lovely smell and color of the Lavender oil.

The hypo allergenic product without lavender oil conforms to the guidelines of Sue Dengate ( see; http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/) who is prominent in helping children with food additive sensitivities. These children also tend to have eczema and so the Hypoallergenic product without lavender was born after requests from a number of customers. Directions for use are exactly the same as for David's Soothing Lavender Face & Body Balm.
