Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy (PUPPP \ PEP)

i am 22 weeks pregnant, and start developing this PUPPP since last few days. red patches and itch. it started on my stomach, and now spread to my arms and a bit on my thighs. do you have any suggestion product for my condition? or do you make up any product that can relieve the symptom? thanks.
We know have a product which is very useful for PUPPP called PREVIT Psorexederm cream (Vitamin E) which is especially formulated for pregnant women and is totally safe to use during pregnancy. It is very soothing for itch and also helps soften the skin to reduce stretch marks.

It is a white zinc based cream which melts onto the skin and is easily spread over the area you wish to treat. As it is white in colour, to avoid staining dark clothes after you have applied it, use an old soft towel to pat the area to blot the cream off after you have massaged most of it into your skin. The cream that has penetrated the skin is sufficient to do the job.

You can also leave the cream on at night and wear old night clothes to allow more cream penetration if you feel it is helpful. Both ways will work. Applying it twice a day will work well and you can apply it more often if the itch is bothering you.

It is excellent for any chafing and can be applied to any part of the body without stinging (except in the eyes of course.) I think you will find our PREVIT Psorexederm cream to be very helpful. Kind Regards, David Hosking. 23/09/99

Hi David, I am 6 months pregnant and in the last month or so i have noticed a spotty rash start to develop. It started on the tummy as small itchy and raised spots that slowly get bigger and has now spread to the breasts and a couple of spots on my thighs.
My midwife told me it may be a pregnancy condition called PUPP [PUPPP] (abbreviated for something very complex) with is not uncommon in pregnancies and there is no harm to the baby. It almost looks like dermatitis. I have never suffered from any skin conditions until now.
Do you have anything that can help this? I tried cortisone cream for a few weeks but this didn't help and i don't want to continue using this. I have also been using your Breast Rash cream as i also have developed a rash in between my breasts due to sweating/rubbing.

I've been awhile in answering your question since I have encountered "Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy" before. We have tried a number of our products on it without success sadly. I've been researching the topic for a while but not much has changed as far as treatment.

The typical answer that it will go away eventually does not really help with the intense itchiness that is common with it. Try the following , use a soothing bath oil in the bath and soak in it. In Australia we have a bath oil with coal tar in it called Pinetarsol so something like that or Dermaveen (has oatmeal in it). The Pinetarsol is not much better than the Dermaveen so although we could post you some it probably wouldn't give any better result than bath oils available locally.

Apply an emollient frequently, that is a cooling soothing moisturiser like sorbolene cream or aqueous cream. If you have a friendly pharmacist, that still makes products, get some 1% Menthol in aqueous cream made up. This is cooling due to the menthol and better than the cortisone.

As always, if you can't find someone local to make it , we can always do it for you but having it made locally saves on the postage

It's worth trying all the above which will give you some relief. Kind Regards, David Hosking.

WEBDESIGNER NOTE: Doing some research on some authoritive web sites also suggests "The term polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP) is used extensively in Great Britain, while PUPPP typically is used in the United States."
